Experience & Capabilities
Mike Riley’s executive coaching draws on his contemporary knowledge of today’s healthcare-related management and governance issues, his deep experiences as a CFO, CEO, COO, investor, entrepreneur, and work as an organizational psychologist and CPA. Mike has worked in, and for, health systems and ventures serving urban, suburban, and rural markets across the United States.
Mike has a first-hand understanding of two different, yet converging, healthcare worlds:
-
the large health system, with massive resources, the political clout of a large employer, deep roots in the communities served, and market and political power to strongly influence healthcare delivery in their market.
For example, as a corporate CFO, Mike helped create and grow a $4+ Billion health system from combining 13 local health systems in 7 states.
-
the healthcare entrepreneur, who starts with a idea, shapes it to meet market interest/demand, builds infrastructure on a shoestring to deliver a healthcare service or consumer product, pilot tests, creates market demand, and develops relationships with investors, payers, regulators, and other providers.

For example, Mike partnered to co-create, manage, and sell two B2B2C healthcare companies.
Mike's education includes a Masters in Science in Organizational Psychology from Johns Hopkins University and a Bachelors degree in Accounting from the University of Maryland.
